A woman has died two weeks after a suspect stabbed her and her toddler while they were walking on a sidewalk in the Pentagon City neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, police say.

Iman Gaye, 26, died at a hospital Monday morning from injuries she suffered in the stabbing on Dec.

15, Arlington County police said.

Gaye and her toddler girl were in the 900 block of Army Navy Drive about 9:45 p.m. Information may also be reported anonymously through the Arlington County Crime Solvers hotline at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A second child was on scene during the incident and was not injured.

The preliminary investigation indicates the adult female victim was walking on the sidewalk outside of a business while holding the toddler when the male suspect approached.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims, an adult female and a toddler female, suffering from lacerations and began administering lifesaving measures.
