Considering the show has been taking some liberties with the source material already, it could easily integrate new LGBTQ characters and storylines, as well as take the time to explore William’s homosexuality, in subsequent seasons, and therefore boost queer representation in a genre that severely needs it.

Mark Gay is a digital thought leader and technologist currently working to drive digital transformation within the insurance industry as Chief Information Officer of QBE Insurance Australia Pacific.

He has won the 'GMA Dove Award' in the Music Video of the Year in 1994. Mark attended Liberty Baptist College but later joined a college evangelistic team. Mark holds a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI) from Swinburne University, is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and was recognised as the Australian CIO of the year in 2016 (www.cio.com.au) and the Australian Financial Services CIO of the year in 2017 (www.itnews.com.au).

During his January 2009 interview with The Modest Bee, an interviewer asked him whether he has a family.

In Invincible, he has trouble navigating his new powers and superhero identity while keeping up a normal facade at school and in his relationships. Unbeknownst to Mark, his normal human best friend, William Clockwell, is anything but normal and human.

Raised by his single police dad, William has secretly possessed powers since he was eight. In the first episode, “It’s About Time,” he tells Mark he thinks Omni-Man is “hot and all,” without knowing the superhero is really his friend’s father.

Believing William's powers stemmed entirely from the Clockwell's past magical lineage, the dad secretly trained his son, determined to protect him from government or GDA interference.

As Viltrumite's true nature comes to light and revealed Earth has had two Viltrumite hybrids this whole time, Mark discovers what it means to be the half human half alien hero Invincible.

The show's story is centered on Mark’s alter-ego Invincible as he grapples with his newfound powers, so it’s unlikely that William will get any more queer screen time for this season.

At the age of 62, Mark surprisingly prefers to spend his quality lifestyle with his family rather than exposing his personal life.

His dad, who met and with a rather mysterious woman during a hiking trip, believed she was a cult escapee given her being foreign with the most basic things and when she mysteriously vanished, only to leave baby William on his doorstep with a cryptic note. The focus is rather on Mark’s romantic life, as he has crushes on two different girls, and William acts as his hype man.

Meanwhile, William must be Willpower to figure out the mystery of his mother.

"I’ve been very blessed in my life when it comes to losing."

Starting a musical career at a young age, his expertise of four decades in the entertainment business has set him to carry the unique legacy as an innately entertaining communicator who can make audiences laugh, cry, and think simultaneously.

It leads to funny moments, like one scene where he rushes to come back home after leaving his crush Amber hanging in his bedroom, but almost forgets to change back into normal clothes. After mistaking Mark’s awkwardness at the topic, he apologizes and moves on by saying “OK, straight stuff.” William's sexuality isn't a topic of discussion, and he quickly falls into the "gay best friend" trope, which unfortunately doesn't leave room for much character development.

The pair even spent their time traveling in Cuba together. That is until he sent that trash bag into orbit, his power finally came and it took him 17 years.

Is Mark Lowry Gay?

Mark Lowry has a prosperous professional career. On 26 October 2011, one of his Twitter followers asked him if he was gay. In the TV show, Mark's best friend at school is William, who is openly gay; however, this is a change from the character's depiction in the comics.

Mark is a 17-year-old high school senior when his powers finally manifest themselves, and he chooses the name Invincible for his superhero alter-ego.
