When boredom takes over

When I look at casting lists of movies and the name Udo Kier pops up, I know that that film can't be any good. In fact, most of the characters' development depended more on our familiarity with their recognizable cliché than anything revealed in the story-line.

At times it seemed like a Dickensian soap opera, heavily over-dramatic and replete with all the trappings, including someone in the snow-covered street singing like an urchin beggar from Scrooge or Nicholas Nickelby.

Later that year, he made his directorial debut with the well-received Back in the Saddle. You don’t have to carry this alone.

And to those who have never experienced incarceration: please understand that sexual violence in prison is not a joke or an acceptable part of punishment. You'll be surprised. The three acts of the film end in a sob fest and Amsterdam at Christmas looks like a typical Zeffirelli production of La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera House.

MIchael Lucas started Lucas Distribution, Inc. in 2004 and LucasBlog.com in 2005. On November 12, 2004, Michael Lucas was proudly sworn in as an American citizen.

A sweet, sad film

I liked this film a lot. Group support through programs like AA and NA has also been helpful, as many people in recovery communities understand the intersection of trauma and substance use.

Take it someone who survived the 80s during the plague and lived to tell about it, this movie hits all the right spots. Both are pioneering ventures in the competitive realms of adult video distribution and online media, respectively. I was on my way to a Christian Worship group when four gang members stopped me near the bathroom. But none of that mattered when I was cornered.

The rape happened after I was assigned to the Maintenance Shop.

It’s about violence, not desire.

My Recovery Journey

Since getting out, I’ve been completely clean. It starts out like a farce, with cartoon good kids and cartoon bullies and cartoon bad parents all interacting frenetically; and the thirtysomething high school kid pumping his thing behind his unlocked door right when Mom and Dad and Little Sis noisily come home - but does he hear them before they barge in and catch him full-handed?

I watch movies ONLY to be entertained, never to be educated.

The big problem with this movie is that it's stupid, boring and totally, totally unbelievable. I had just turned twenty-five and had no idea what life was really like behind bars.

I identify as straight, though sexual orientation has nothing to do with why men are targeted for sexual assault in prison.

With one or two exceptions the whole cast of this film is challenged and overwhelmed with their task to act. No, this is not a good film, no matter how ambitious it may seem.

Frenetic, phony, annoying and totally unbelievable

Unlike some other reviewers, I watch movies for the quality of the entertainment, not for the quality of the preaching.

The code against “snitching” is absolute, and survival sometimes means silence.

Why Victims Don’t Report: The Culture of Silence

Research shows that approximately 65% of inmates believe reporting sexual assault is the same as snitching.

There’s no way to explain this except to say my inner voice kept telling me to be careful.
